Happy New Year!

Did you all have a lovely Christmas?  Ours was rather different this year, and as our daughters weren't with us on boxing day we left to spend eight lovely but cold days in my new favourite city - Edinburgh and got to enjoy Hogmanay with the Scots!

Happy New Year to you all ...may 2014 be a year of positive change for you, a year of adventures, a year of experiencing life outside of your comfort zone.  A year where you and your family enjoy good health, joy and lots of laughter!  It's the memories made along the way that make the journey of life worth while.

Whilst in Edinburgh, I couldn't help but be reminded of Robert Burns the poet who wrote Auld Lang Syne in 1788.  He speaks of kindness, of remembering old friendships.

Auld Lang Syne
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days oā€™ lang syne!

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne,
Weā€™ll tak a cup oā€™ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes,
And puā€™d the gowans fine,
But weā€™ve wanderā€™d mony a weary foot
Sinā€™ auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidlā€™t in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roarā€™d
Sinā€™ auld lang syne.

And thereā€™s a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gieā€™s a hand oā€™ thine,
And weā€™ll tak a right guid willie-waught
For auld lang syne!

And surely yeā€™ll be your pintā€™ stoup,
And surely Iā€™ll be mine!
And weā€™ll tak a cup oā€™ kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

Here's to kindness in 2014 ....
