Going Green

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a lovely weekend.  The weather was perfect and the beachfront was full of people either walking, cycling and jogging
and on Sunday the Race For Life took place along Southsea Beachfront it's the biggest Cancer fund raising event with over 240 races being held across the UK.

Green is the colour of grass, broccoli, grasshoppers, leaves, frogs, jealousy and Shrek!
but Green hasn't always been a popular colour to use in interiors, but it can work if the correct shade of green is used.  A few green spaces that have got it right.

And of course we all need a bunch of blooms to brighten up our day!

Happy week!

Ways with mantels

I have to tell you, the other day I walked into a house, and up on the mantel, on a huge white wall, was a big black TV, so this prompted me to do a post on mantels and how to get maximum impact, whether you've got loads of room or not.

(On my other blog here I did a post on the TV dilemma... )

Have a great week!

Visual interest

Well, the sun came out for a little while, blue skies overhead and then it was gone...clouded over and now looks like rain...what's new??

Posting about creating visual interest in a room, so important for any space.
There seems to be a return of colour, which I'm glad about.  I've always loved stimulating interiors, and these images have that special something

Whatever you're doing this weekend,
have a happy one!

Ordinary to extraordinary

Interiors are so personal, so much part of the people who live there.  But why is it that some interiors are different, what turns ordinary into extraordinary?

I'm on the bathroom war path ...bathrooms often get overlooked when redecorating and we tend to think of the resale value and so end up putting in a plain white suite...but these images show that having a white suite doesn't have to be boring at all.

Because bathrooms are usually small in comparison to other rooms in the house, it's an opportunity to throw all caution to the wind and do something out of the ordinary...

Can you imagine painting those stripes over all that paneling?  You've got to admit though, it does have the wow factor!

Love this wallpaper and I have to admit black and white chequered flooring is a favourite of mine

is this a step too far?

It's still raining cats and dogs as I type this, and tomorrow promises no better,
but still wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Colour ways

To those who don't know, this is a brand new blog about interiors....under my own name Sharon Jane Interiors.  I'm excited and over the moon about creating interesting, colourful spaces!

I can't get enough of Jonathan Adler interiors.  They just have a certain something that make my eye want to roam over every piece in the room and then back again.

It's called ATMOSPHERE.

He creates spaces that lure the eye from one eye popping colour to another with plenty of space to rest the eyes in between.

If you've found me for the first time, join me on my journey.

Until next time
