Just for you

Hi everyone, today's post is all about the romantic cottage style.

I have a blog friend who literally built her own cottage from the floorboards up, alongside her devoted husband, so this post is for her.

We might not buy the same lampshades or cushion covers, but we have one thing in common - we both love decorating!

In my mind, romantic cottage style conjours up images of pretty lace, pink roses, dreamy soft ice cream colours and well worn shabby chic furniture in shades of pale grey to white.   The palette is calm, nothing jumps out at you and there is a sense of calmness all around.  Floorboards are painted white or grey, scattered with faded rose patterned rugs.  The lighting is dimmed, and the shades are fringed and chandeliers twinkle in the early evening sunlight.  A well worn arm chair sits in the corner, made plump with homemade feather cushions in fabric from cabbages and roses...

so, take a tour with me as I share my favourite romantic cottage images.

So if you want to embrace romantic cottage style, scour the antique stores for candlesticks, ornate lampbases and old fashioned shades, pretty tea cups and saucers, antique lace, faded floral rugs and lots of white linen.  Ebay is another good source of vintage and antique fabric, pretty feather filled eiderdowns as well as lamps which are just waiting to be whitewashed.

Hope you enjoyed the tour, as usual, I couldn't help but add in a little colour!
