layers and texture



I've been thinking of dark walls and smokey interiors for a while now. I go to sleep thinking of paint swatches and fabric.   This photo has great combination of textures and strong wall colour.   I love how the lighter objects pop out against a dark wall.  Lots of texture in the various pieces of stone work, the fireplace and the rusted iron urn on the mantle.  Lovely sludgey colours and a gorgeous throw to wrap around and get cosy.



It has a really earthy feel, don't you think?

    Oh yes, it has a very earthy feel, I love the dark walls with the white antlers especially.

    Oh yes Sharon it's stunning!
    I had a slight obsession with dark walls after seeing the movie 'Grey Gardens'... The walls in the main downstairs room are dark purple and it looks wonderful.

    I love them, I'm thinking of having dark grey walls in my dinning room as I have a lot of white ikea bookcases which should be a good contrast?
