What draws your attention?

Hello dear friends, with sunshine outside and light blue skies, the promise of Spring is very near.

Today for the first time my daughter baked a 'Melktert' or Milktart.   It's a traditional South African sweet tart made with milk and eggs and sprinkled with cinnamon.  It originally comes from the Netherlands and was brought over by early Dutch settlers.  It's delicious!

But I'm here to share my latest obssession ...

Lately I've been drawn to abstract paintings, which is rather unusual for me.  I'm mostly drawn to portraits, executed in all manner of styles.  I just know when a piece catches and holds my attention.  I keep going back to gaze at it...to see whatever it is that is keeping me looking.

Abstracts have never held that fascination to me, until now.  Abstract art is about conveying a feeling or a thought, so one needs to allow oneself the freedom to gaze at something that you might not understand at first sight and then allow the painting to speak to you.

So what kind of art do you enjoy?

Hope you are ready for a new week!
